Hmm...not sure if I'm posting this in the correct forum...:confused

I'm having a problem with facebook. The pages load extremely slowly...when I attempt to scroll it freezes up for several minutes.

I'm running Windows XP on a desktop. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had this exact same problem about a month ago. It is evidentally a fairly new Facebook user login problem and has not been addressed in many forums on the web as yet.

Not only would the page freeze up but I was unable to get to the task manager to shut down the browser. Very frustrating. In any case, I was able to find a work-around for this nagging problem...

Someone in another software-related forum suggested using the following (alternative) Facebook website login at the Site URL link: https://facebook.com/login

I also saved that NEW address to my favorites; altering any old Facebook links in ALL of my different browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) to that particular Site URL listed above.

Here's hoping that it works for you as well... ;)

Sorry about that: I accidentally copied that Site URL login incorrectly in my previous post.

Try this one out... Site URL: https://www.facebook.com/login

Thanks COMPUABLE, I tried your suggestion, but it didn't change anything. :cry

Here's something else I've noticed...the top blue bar and the tool bar sort of flickers, like maybe IE is having to reload. :confused

Just a couple of additional questions and possible suggestions:

(1) How much memory do you currently have installed on the Windows XP desktop?
(2) Additionally, what is the particular version number of Internet Explorer are you currently using? And also: do you have any other browsers, such as Firefox or Chrome installed?
(3) If you do, you could try to load the Facebook pages on the other browsers; in order to determine if the Facebook login problem is solely isolated to the Internet Explorer browser only.

The reason I ask about version of Internet Explorer that you have installed is the fact that IE 7 is pretty much considered to be outdated and obsolete currently (See Microsoft Products Support Lifecycle Policy) and many, many people in various forums that I attend also report that both Internet Explorer 8 as well as Internet Explorer 9 can both be quite buggy, as well.

Finally, you might also want to try using this Microsoft Support Link URL: Support for Windows Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, and 9 or this link for IE 10 or 11

Side Note: With Windows XP coming to the end of it's support cycle 5 months from noe in April of 2014, there are going to be numerous IE bugs as well as security problems cropping up.

Good Luck -- COMP
