Facebook works poorly in chrome

Hello everyone. I'm having problems with using facebook in google chrome. The exact issue is kind of inconsistent and hard to pin down, but i'd generally call it poor performance, and random failure.

First of all, the page runs at a low framerate, if that even makes sense. Everything takes several seconds to react when clicked on. And randomly, the tab just freezes. When that happens, any attempt to do anything, such as opening the messages page, simply doesn't happen. i click, and chrome makes no attempt to load a page, gives no indication that it's doing anything.

Sometimes the site will work fine for a while without problems, and sometimes these problems will appear the instant i load it, but either way it'll always happen eventually. What's strange though is that everything is fine (for a while) if i refresh the page, or close the tab and go to facebook again in a new one. As previously mentioned, the problems will eventually return

Given the fact that facebook is the only site (as far as I'm aware) that has these problems, and that it works just fine in other browsers, such as firefox, i'm inclined to say that the problem isn't network related. I'm assuming there'd be a huge outcry if facebook simply didn't work in chrome, so it's probably not inherent in the browser either. I think that leaves some configuration/plugin issue on my end, as the most likely candidate.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that facebook heavily uses javascript, so maybe that's not working for me. I'm not entirely certain how i'd go about diagnosing or repairing any problem though. I'd rather not lose my history/bookmarks/addons/etc by reinstalling chrome, either.

Any suggestions to get me started?
