Is it just me, or do others also find that Facebook is a memory hog, often runs slow, and tends to crash its tab in the browser and have to reload itself, sometimes failing to do so, all of which is increasingly common the further you scroll down the feed?

Yep, it's iffy for me too, at times, using any browser. For the last week or so though, it's been running quite nicely.

Yep, I was having problems with it lagging and not loading photos quickly but as Kestel13! stated, it seems to have worked itself out.

I wonder if my Facebook difficulties could be due in part to living in a cosmopolitan area. I live in the Land of the Lost, which is part of the BosWash Megapolis. I know Kestrel13! lives in cloud cuckoo land, which I'm pretty sure is a designated Spiritual Plain, so I don't know what their situation is there vis-à-vis network infrastructure.

Under IE11, Win 7 I find a number of websites accumulate their use of memory very quickly leading to unresponsiveness of IE11 and black screen on that tab. One of the worst culprits is indeed facebook. I take the irresponsible action of looking in task manager and ending IE processes which are using more than 750K.

Of 8GB RAM installed I seem to have difficulty if task manager shows more than 6GB "Physical Memory Usage" (displayed in the graphic)

Facebook is a memory hog. open your task manager before loading up facebook and watch how much system resources it takes.

I'm not seeing what I would call excessive mem use with FB whether on an old Vista box with 3gb or a Win10 with 8gb. But using browser extensions to restrict script from third-party sites, and adblockers to restrict ads lowers memory use.

You know, I've noticed Facebook tends to crash its tab in the browser even when RAM usage is rather low (and CPU usage is VERY low). I wonder why that should be?

Hmmm, more "ignored content"... I wonder what that's all about...?

What version of FF are you using? The latest?

I'm sorry, you didn't even mention if you *were* using Firefox. My bad. Which browser are you using?

IE11. I have Chrome installed as well, so I can switch to that if need be. At one time I also had Firefox installed as well, but upon reading recent reviews of all 3, I uninstalled that. Maybe you have some recollection of seeing references to Firefox on my machine from when you were helping me with my malware problem.
