I'd like to learn how to identify which program is writing to my HP Factory Restore D:\ drive. How to stop the program from writing to it? In addition, how to identify which files written to the d:\ drive don't belong?

Thank you for you time, and superior intellect!:major

Thank you for you prompt reply:

    HP Model: P6240f

Windows 7 Home Premium, with Service Pack 1.

Looking at google search for Factory Image running out of space. I came upon more than one thread in which they claim that there is a possibility a program is writing to the factory restore drive without realizing it!

    Thank you for you support!

If you order the files by Date Modified you will see which have been added most recently. That will help identify which program is generating them. You will need to show extensions for known file types in Windows Explorer as they are hidden by default.
