    hi

can someone tell me if a factory reset will erase my data on my other internal drives? my second question is i run windows 8.1, i used a upgrade installer from microsoft to get it. i can't find where that installer is since its been a long time since i used it. i do have windows 8 disc. does anyone know if i can get the windows 8.1 installer back from microsoft for free? i ask cause i recall you have to have the windows installer if you want to factory reset.

    thanks in advance.

Depends on whether your 'other internal drives' are physically separate drives or partitions of a single drive. If they are physical drives they won't be affected but a factory reset would remove any partitions you have created on the main drive, destroying your data in the process.

If you have a Win 8 disc and licence key you don't need an 8.1 installer as you will be offered the 8.1 upgrade automatically.

    Hi earthling.

Yea I meant physically separate drives. I'm glad they won't be affected cause I have four 2tb hard drives and I don't have enough room on my external drives to back up the hard drives.

Awesome. Thanks for answering my questions earthling. I appreciate it.
