Fadeing desktop

Having recently loaded sp2 on my compac series 5000 computer I have developed a single problem that is driving me nuts. I have a samsung syncmaster 997df monitor . every time The computer screen goes to screensaver and when I go back to the computer to work The background image on my desktops color has faded . I can get it back if I got to settings-control panel- display-settings- screen resolution and change that I get the color back.UNTIL, the screen saver comes back them I have the same problem. I cannot use the manual on the installation because it has a copy of a Mercks manual [ a medical tool ] help please. this is the only problem I have encountered after the sp2 download.

Disable the screensaver and set the monitor to shut off after 10 or 20 minutes. See if it does the same thing when you wake the monitor.
