When I upgraded to Fire Fox 4 I lost the Weather Channel tool bar, I tried to down load it last night. I used the for Fire Fox down load and it failed, now when I open FF I get the applet below. Any ideas how to get it fixed? Also just noticed I get the pop up when I opened manage attachments just now. It does not happen in IE. I just tried to up load the screen shot and got a message it could not be up loaded due to missing security token!

Hi thanks for your response! I down loaded the weather app and went through the steps described by FF, can't exactly remember the failure applet. The steps so far not being sure what happened was SAS scan, MBAM scan, and full scan with MSE all came up clean. I removed FF with REVO and got a fresh copy, the problem still persists.

It says it is a Java issue in the title bar, the screen shot will not load I get a security message.

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

Below is the pop I get when I open FF, it hits me twice as FF loads and if I open the manage attachments section here.

    [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIFileInputStream.init]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://1clickweather/content/js/utils/filemanager.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 233" data: no]

I take js to mean javascript, which is not the same as java.

Now are you saying that a fresh copy of Firefox will not even open?

    I'm running FF v4. I started here http://theweatherchannel.ourtoolbar.com/
and clicked the FF icon, way down at the bottom of the page. I got a popup that said "Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer". I then can click allow. Note: I did not do this because I do not want any toolbar.
Does doing it this way work for you?

I'm trying to see if this does work in FF 4 and so far, I'm finding no information on the weather channel page as to what versions it works for.

Hi FF is working fine but I get the two pop ups every time I open FF or go to manage attachments here or on any other site, yes it is a script issue not Java.

Being as the issue stayed on the machine even with the removal of FF, I will have to keep digging into it. Maybe FF can shed some light on it. IE and all else seems OK, just a remnant of left over script hiding someplace. I hate these little annoying things!

Only FF has the issue, IE works fine. I ran Auslogics Reg cleaner, I am not a fan of reg cleaners but it was worth a try. It did not do anything, I may just transfer my info off this drive onto my back up drive clean this one and mirror it back.

I don't understand; how can the issue remain if you don't have the browser installed. When are you getting these popups if FF is no longer installed?

On Fx 4 here. Installed it from plodr's link in post #4.
Firefox did prevent the site from dowloading- but I allowed it.
Launched Fx got to my home page and it froze in 5-6 second. Used Task Manager to kill, launched FF again same symptoms- it froze. Could not even access add-ons!!

    See if this helps.
    If on XP Start> run> %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
    If on Vista or 7.
Start> copy paste %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the searchbox.
In the profile open the .default folder
    Open up the extensions folder.
You should see a number of alpha numeric folders/ CLSID.
Open each. Each has a chrome folder. Open each and see if you can find the_weather_channel in any. If yes delete it. Reboot and see if you get a pop up.

    Cheers..

Hi sorry you may have missed in post #3 I removed FF with REVO and did a fresh install of FF4, nothing changed. The issue stayed on the machine the removal and reload had no effect. I will try removing it again, then I will try Sikvik string in run see what I find. If I find any FF entries I will remove them then try another reload of FF. Thanks for hanging in on this.

Ok fixed! I removed FF using REVO deep clean along with the personal data etc, it grabbed what ever was hanging around. Again thank you so much for helping me out.

    I'm glad it is fixed.

Thanks sikvik for the testing. This alerts us to the fact that the weatherchannel toolbar does not work with FF v4.
