Failing HDD?

    I've never had a hard drive fail before, so I not too sure what signs to look for. My boot HDD recently made some strange mechanical beeping (?) noises while installing AliasStudio 2009. The install failed and my computer froze. I restarted the system and the beeping noises continued. after a proper shut down the computer will now struggle to post, and if it does, will not move past Vista loading screen.

    Is this a common symptom of a failing drive? Time to buy an new one? It's only 10 months old!
