I want to quiet my noisy case fan, and I just discovered fan controllers. Here's two I'm looking at:

    Vantec:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813999504

    Zalman:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813999504

Now my case fans use just 4-pin power plugs for their power: they don't actually use any of those fan plugs or anything like that, just a simple 4-pin power plug.

Will any of these fan controllers be able to handle a 4-pin power plug case fan? I see many reviews saying "yeah k3wl this quiets my 3-pin fan" but I'm not really sure on if they mean power plug or a molex plug (I think that's what it is).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those two links you posted are the same product. I'm assuming you mean the Zalman Fanmate 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118217

I have a few of those fanmates, and they will unfortunately not work with the 4-pin plugs. You need to buy a 4-pin to 3-pin converter to be able to use them. I'm not sure about the Vantec, but it appears to work the same way, through 3-pin plugs, not 4-pins like you would hope.

I still highly recommend the Fanmate because it does wonders for quieting down noisy fans. It is a great product at a great price. Here is an adapter so you can use it:

    Nice nice nice nice nice!

I would've rather had Zalman come up with this, since they've already proven themselves with a fanless chipset heatsink that completely eliminated chipset fan noise (and it kept the temps the same as it did with stock hsf), and the vga 700 copper hsf brought the load temps on my video card down by 18C, plus I like the name "zalman" :p

But in this case...Vantec gets a few of my dollars...

    Thanks.

Some fan controllers come with fan extensions and/or adapters, but they don't usually come with adapters for more than one or two 4-pin fans. The native connectors on all controllers I know of are the 3-pin fan connectors.
