alright well i got a compaq presario 6350ca , its been nothing but good to me. Just recently (i havent done anything differently) it would randomly start its fan until they sound like there at maximum speed (loud) which it stays for about 5seconds then it start winding down. Its been randomly doing this .. its usually turns its fans on but never this powerful and loud.. any reason why its doing this?

Have you checked to make sure a fan has not died or dust is clogging up the heatsinks?

well i did remove the case and take most the dust off the 3 fans in there. Not sure what a heatsink is so .. might want to explain that out to me. But the fan that seems to be going strong and almost alwas seems to be the fan not on the motherboard or the PSU but the one right below the pcu fan (i can feel it from the back).. im not really sure why it started to go the past few days.. you said to check if a fan died but i dont think any of them died because i can still here the other one when the fan thats loud stops going. How would i check if it died?

Still need help figuring this out.. could still problem be solved by new fans?

The main thing is to make sure dust is removed from the heat sinks, which sit on top of the CPU and have a fan mounted to them. If the dust isn't cleaned the fan can't do it's job, new or old.

does that heatsink regulate the case fan too? because like i mentioned im almost positive that its the case fan but it could aslo be the CPU fan but there no way of me finding out unless you can run your computer with the case open???

I dont think i should attempt to remove the CPU fan.. or is it easy to do cuz if heard if you screw up and dont put it back right your PSU will fry real quick.

Sorry for the double post but i download a program called speedfan... supose to tell you fan speed , tempature , voltage etc.. for your pc. When i wasnt doing much the speed of Remote 2 was around 60 but the as soon as i opened a program CPU usage went up and all of a sudden the heat was climbing to 85+ and there a little fire symbol beside it.

    What is remote 2?

You can run the computer with the case open. Just make sure nothing is in the way of any of the fans.

alright so i took the case out and i believe the fan making all the noise is indeed the smaller fan that is on my mother board (CPU fan i think) , so do you believe it is because it has dust on the heatsink? can i take that fan out and clean it or is it better to leave things like that to someone that knows more what there doing.. ?

Are there 2 fans on the motherboard or just one? A picture would be great if possible.

That would be your CPU heatsink fan. So the offending fan just speeds up and slows down? It does not stop does it?

i dont think it stops , ill take a look at it but i believe it just speeds up alot and then just slows down and idles at that speed before starting to speed up again.
