I am new here; looks like a lot of good information. I have a general question: the fan on my HP Pavilion a320n has been coming off and on for the last couple of weeks, and it appears to slow down IE. I downloaded Mozilla, and it does not appear to affect that. It could be that the fan issue and slow IE is not related, but when at IE and trying to browse or do a function, the function will complete when the fan "whirls" on. I don't know much about this as I am just learning things on my own as I go. I do know it is irritating my wife, which in turn irritates me! Is there a problem w/ my fan? How does that affect IE? It "whirls" on for a few seconds, then off for a bit, on for a few seconds, etc.....

    Any suggestions?

Seeing as how nobody else has suggested anything....

Which fan are you talking about? The CPU fan? The fan in the power supply unit? The case fan (if your system has one)?

If it's the CPU fan, get it fixed before you burn up the CPU.

Whichever one it is, it may have a flaky power connection, though I'm guessing about what would make it turn itself off and on. Maybe temperature changes? Perhaps random vibration from your keyboard? Anyway, you could just try replacing the fan. They're not expensive.
