Far Cry crashes when first mission loads

Hej Bullen, jag är en kille som har ett problem.

Yep. That's it. I get past the first video, start my own profile and click start, whereupon the first mission starts to load and then the whole system crashes and the computer reboots. I *barely* make the system requirements:

OS: xp
CPU: 1600 Mhz AMD
RAM: 448 Mb
Motherboard: Soltek micro-ATX K8M800I-RL socket 754

I am ever so sad.

 

It's a very well written and scalable game, I've played it on a pentium III.

Anyway, what is your video card, do you have the 1.31 patch installed, and have you tried reinstalling the game?

 

Graphic card: VIA/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP (64 MB)

No patch and no reinstall.

 

The patch and reinstall are worth a try, but if you have an AGP slot, then you really need to upgrade from onboard video.

Even if you could get it to run with VIA onboard, I doubt if the game would be very playable or enjoyable.

If you have an AGP slot, you can pick up a 6600 GT for fairly cheap.

 

Was afraid of that. The only card I've got available is an old Nvidia TNT. Think that'll make a difference?

 

Hard to say but I very much doubt it.

You really need a somewhat new and decent card to play new games, especially ones of the calibre and graphics of Far Cry.
