FarCry how do I save games

How do I save games or checkpoints in Farcry. While I'm playing it seems like it is saving the game every so often all by itself. There will be checkpoints listed anyway. But if I turn the game off and then go back in it there are no checkpoints. If I pick new game under the same profile it tells me that my checkpoints will be lost if I proceed, only I can't see any checkpoints??????/

 

Check the far cry site for a patch for this or do as I do. Hit the tilde key (~) then type this exactly \save_game hit the enter key then the tilde key again. Game saved.

While in game, when the game saves the check point, press the esc key
and you should be able to save. I have the game and I was able to load any checkpoint on any level. Just make sure that you updated your game but I don't know man, It works just fine with me.

 

I went and downloaded the patch, about 25 MB's on a dial-up but that fixed it. Thanks guys
