Fast User Switching Only Works After PC Restart

Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3

Hi,

Fast user switching frequently stops working. I have to restart the pc to get it working again. But it's only a temporary fix, as the problem always returns.

probably need a bit more detail (maybe programs that hog things, RAM, processor info, etc.) for someone (not me; i was just hired for my looks LOL) to help you figure this one out.

i know my XP home will lag/freeze if i "switch" users with several programs running. doesn't seem to be affected so much if only 1 (or none) program's running, but i generally shut mine down & log off (instead of switching) so my son can jump on the pc.

not sure what your situation is, but could also be some lag/freeze due to a particular security suite...my KIS 2010 (Kaspersky) slows some things a bit, although i'm not having any freeze ups since i got their last hotfix (was a nightmare for a couple weeks). have also heard similar issues with BitDefender & ZA Extreme suites...unless they're fixed now, too.
