Fat32 And Exfat

I have Win7. 64 Bit and a SD Card 64 GB in Size.

I was going to put the Card into my USB Flash Drive.

I know FAT32 can only be used on a Size no Bigger then 2. TB so my 64 GB Card will be ok.

So I put the Card in my Computers Card Slot and Right Click on the Card and Pick Format.

It shows my Card Size 64 GB and for the FAT Type it has NTSF.
I would use this but I will be putting this Card into my USB Flash Drive and taking it to my DVD Player.

So I thought it would be best if I use FAT32.

So I Click on the FAT Type and NTFS and exFAT Dropdown.

Why will Win7. not let me Format as FAT32?

 

It might be a code limitation written into Windows.

Note it says the Power Shell mode can take an hour or so with a 64G card.

 

Windows has a 32 GB limit for formatting memory cards and flash drives with FAT32.

I am surprised that you are saying that Windows 7 iso is less than 2GB. I would have guess it to be bigger.

Ok, I misread. I thought OP was trying to put the Win 7 iso onto the USB drive. But after re-reading, I see that he/she is just trying to use the USB drive with his windows 7 machine.
But still, OP should understand that you can't put a file of size greater than 2GB on a fat 32 formatted drive. The main draw of fat32 is so that the data can be read and written to by a lot of operating systems.

 

The file size limit for FAT32 is 4 GB.
