FAT32 or NTFS ? - I Can Never Remember Which To Use

I can never remember which format to use. I will be using my new rig for mostly gaming. Should I go FAT32 or NTFS? I will have three hard drives; an 80 gig master drive used for the OS and stuff. The DVD/CD rom drive will be a slave to that drive. Additionally, I will have a 30 gig Western Digital used for games and utilites. Attached to that will be a small 2 gig (ancient, I know) slave Seagate drive I use for backing up bookmarks and files and such.

What to do ?

NTFS. Fat32 is a piece of garbage filesystem.

Its not about performance, its about stability, and unless you wanna have cross linked files when you crash...steer clear of Fat32.

 

Recommended: NTFS. Fat32 has a file size limit of 4gb (or 2gb, I don't remember) And with NTFS you have a better security, It gets fragmented with less frequency But the fat32 can be accessed from DOS and the NTFS cant.

 

Dos is so dead.

 

As everyone has already stated: NTFS. NTFS can read FAT32 files but FAT cannot read NTFS files and is therefore quite limited......

 

Don't be so sure... it can save you many times...

A WinPE CD, or Linux CD can do the same for NTFS.
