 Ok everyone, I need a bit of help understanding what the heck is going on. I am running Windows 98SE . On starting pc the following Blue screen appears:
Fatal exception OE 0028:C002B797 in VXD NTKERN (01) +00009B9B

I have reinstalled windows 3 times using a military grade blow away disk.

I have tried booting in safe mode which worked fine. I have tried to load programs back in one at a time. Suggestions anyone? Besides buying a new pc, funds are low and I can't right now. I will admit to wanting and needing one though. Thank you for your help and you may email me direct if you choose. [email removed for your own sake ;)]

if you're constantly getting it even with 3 formats, I am going to say there is something wrong with your hardware.. most likely culprit is RAM.

Try booting in safe mode and running this utility if you can

if you can't get into windows, it may be time to crack open the case and see how many sticks of RAM you have in there. if you have 2,then you might want to take one out at a time and test each one with the system separately. If you only have one stick, you may need to try another stick of RAM somehow..
    Let us know.

Hi Barb!! Welcome to MG!!b Hey, someone will be along in a minute or two or so to help you. My concern is that it is probably not a great idea to make your e_mail addy so public. Spammers are everywhere these days. I consider this a safe enough site, but your address would probably do better in your public profile. :)

Thanks a bunch. I will try it tonight. I just had a ram upgrade not to long ago. I will see how it goes. Sorry so late in getting back to you.

just to add to that, should you have the need to post your e-mail addy anywhere (forums or such) add in a NOASPAM or such like (not nesscerily that word) for example mayaddress@ANWHEREmyemail)

I do belive that it, so far, can prevent automated programs of finding your correct e-mail....

maybe wrong... but I dont care... I do it any way if I post ma e-mail addy...

Like a true beginner I used my email address as my login in on this site. How do I cancel my membership/delete it and start over with a new login? Duh, l should have known better than to do something that dumb. Thanks for all of your help.

Did the error occur before then? When you upgraded the memory, did you add more modules, or did you remove and replace the ones that were there? If you just added more, there might be some conflicting problems if the memory is a different speed or produced by a different manufacturer.
