I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 2200.

When I was using a .exe file the icons on my desktop and the taskbar dissapeared from my desktop. I then shutdown my computer by holding down the power button. When I reloaded everything was working fine until I logged on to my account. The icons appeared for a few seconds, then dissapeared again. This time I used Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart my computer, and during this the blue screen Fatal System Error message appeared. Unfortunately I didn't write down what it said (I'm probably screwed thanks to that blunder on my part). After I held down the power button again to shut off the computer, and I loaded it in safe mode to see if it would work (which it did). If anyone could help me fix this problem I would be very grateful.

    Error Code

    The error message read:

The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc00000051 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has shut down.

    Re: Error Code

Have you tried an earlier restore point?

The thing is I don't remember ever making a restore point. If I return to one will all my current files still be on my computer?

EDIT: The restoration worked fine. Thanks.
