Dos anyone have a SB X-Fi installed on a Fatal1ty AN9 mob and if you do were you able to install the drivers from the disk included with the x-fi? My disk claims it can not find any supported hardware. I have tried everything my last line of action is replacing the mobo.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Still unable to get the drivers and apps to install from disk. No one on any site has said to have a Fatal1ty AN9 with an x-fi installed. Someone out there has to have tried to! I dont want to replace the motherboard only to have the same problem still.

Try moving the SB card to a different slot and use the drivers from the Creative web site. If it still won't work, try the SB card in a friends PC, or see if your local PC shop will test it for a few bucks. Chances are the sound card is at fault, not the motherboard. Anyway, the Fatal1ty AN9 has a fairly righteous on board sound system that should rival the SB card...

Theres only one PCI slot on the fatal an9 :(

I just got the card back from RMA so i dont think its the sb card im afraid its the motherboard. And your right as far as on board sound gos the on board on the fatal an9 is top of the line but still dos not even compare to the xfi when the xfi is working properly.

I had the xfi on the fatal AN8 and it worked flawlessly. I built a new system for xmas though and put the xfi card onto the an9 (i hate admitting this next part it was a total no brainer)

I moved the HD over and didnt format or install any of the new drivers or anything else cuz i was waiting on a new HD. when ever i build a new system i always put in a new hard drive so i can save the old one and everything on it till the new one is completely updated also insures i dont lose anything.well at any rate for some reason the mic jack on the xfi wasnt working in the new system (here comes that part i dont like admitting) i tried everything and finally started taking things apart and low and behold i notice some crustys (dried liquid coolant) it wasnt from a leak and judging by the drip pattern on the xfi and the pci slot i dribbled on it while i was assembling and didnt notice it, it was late i was tired and i know better.

So anyhow i determined that that must be why the mic jack wasnt working anymore so i sent the card in for an RMA. Got it back stuck it in and the drivers wouldnt install on the new HD how ever all the software and everything including mic worked on old HD that had it already installed prior to moving it to the new system.

I uninstalled the drivers from old HD to see if it would let me reinstall them and it wouldnt so i eliminated it being the windows setup and other drivers. Its got to be a hardware issue either a conflict of some sort or the motherboard needs to be replaced from my dribbling. Or something about the AN9 is just preventing it. I can install the drivers from creatives site but there generic. You lose a ton of the tools, apps and control for the card.

Which leads me to my big question and thats if someone else has the Fatal AN9 with the Xfi on it and if they were able to install from orig disk. If they couldnt well then replacing the board wont do me any good. If they did then im positive somethings wrong with the board. Or there is that small chance they sent me a faulty replacement but im leaning more towards i screwed up the board dribbling coolant on it. I just dont want to replace this board and have the same problem once i get another one.

So far though it dosnt sound like anyone has an xfi on a fatal an9. prolly cuz most are content with the on board sound.... let me tell you though even with the half *** drivers i have installed right now the xfi is still far better then the on board. EAX support, crystallizer, CMSS -3D just cant get that on the on board. I will say the on board dos have true 7.1 surround sound but still nothing compared to the X-Fi. I did think of one alternative but it would be a pain in the ***.... take the HD and the X-fi and go install the drivers and apps on someone else's rig cuz they work just fine once there installed. I just cant get the orig disk to find any supported hardware to complete its install. And of course windows would prolly bug out since the hardware set ups would be different. Not to mention i dont know anyone around here with a desktop capable of running my sata drive and the xfi.
