For WEEKS now, my Event viewer, in the application log has shown about 5 application errors and other errors a day.

The error sources have been varied but often are:
Application Error : Usually saying something about FAULT BUCKET (with a variety of different numbers like 95540284, 87756855) or a FAULTING APPLICATION, FAULTING MODULE (some have been kernel 32.dll, ntdll.dll).
    Application Hang in explorer.exe; iexplorer.exe, mmjb.exe
    Perflib
Microsoft Office 10 (faulting application winword.exe, module: mso.dll)

[Perfnet -- Oh, I think this is tied into the error with WMI Adapter which I had disabled along with "Server" per Black Viper instructions...I have since enabled them both and I don't think I've had this error anymore]

I did read the Microsoft help with each message. I did go online to try to figure out some of the error messages, but I don't know IF these are important???

Before I spend more time on it can anyone tell me...

    What is a "fault bucket"?
    Is this normal?

    Let me know -- thanks

pegg... if you have some errors and those are linked to MS Office, I would be tempted to depending on version of Office do a repair or a re-install of office.

as for the Fault Bucket... that conjours up a mental picture of someone at MS Technical looking through the reported errors and throwing the ones they don't know in a big "Fault Bucket".... but on a serious note, they are normal occurences when you have some errors its like when you get a ticket for your dry cleaning.. it identifies your fault.

    this from MS support
plus the whole lot if you want a bit of reading.........

Thanks for your help. I see how to reinstall Microsoft Works Suite 2004 (which includes Word 2002) -- I have the CD, I can't find on my computer how to "repair" which would be great so I don't lose everything I have (well, I'll do a back up but...) Any advice on a repair?

    running: Windows XP Home Edition

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

Not sure if the Works suite follows the full Office standard. In Office, from any application, like Word, click Help from the top toolbar, then Detect & Repair. That will start the repair/reinstall going. Have your disks handy.

If that doesn't work, go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, and click on Works. You should get a prompt asking you if you really want to uninstall. You may also see a choice for Repair. If the Repair option is there, click that. Otherwise click "No".

Third way is to put the install disk in the drive. It may come up with both install or run, and Repair as an option from that.

If nothing offers repair, you can always totally uninstall it and then reinstall it clean. But if you do that, save your critical files and data somewhere outside the program(s) just in case the uninstall removes some of them.

Thanks -- that's really helpful. I'll give each a try if I have to get that far.
