    Hi World,

Here is a new one...well at least for me.
Just thought I would add this one in case someone has a similar issue one day.

Started work this morning rebuilding a little old P3 800MHz.
Added some ram to speed up the install process etc..
    formated partitioned etc fine..
When it came to Windows doing a Hard drive scan just prior to the Windows install thats where the issue began, with this long story being cut down to - my only option was to restart.
Tried to do a scan disk and check disk.. no c:\ invalid disc... you what...:confused... looked in bios HDD there..hmmm
what was the last thing i did...ahh added ram took out the newly added ram fine.
Removed the ram windows installed like nothing was ever wrong. :p
The additional RAM was the same speed as the existing, but twice the capacity, and same amount of chips on the sticks too... I had also tried swapping ram banks prior to removing the larger simm - which was the culprit.

Anyway might be a consideration if you think you Hard drive has the issue when in reality it could be the ram, at least perhaps something worth considering, before throwing out that 500GB HDD
