The Favorites in Internet Explorer have an option to select a Shortcut key. With our labtop, we have Vista. I selected F2, also tried F3 as a shortcut key for a favorite place, but I am missing something as hitting these keys does not bring up the favorite place. Any help appreciated. Mark

    Hi

Try CTRL+I for IE7 Favorites in Vista

or if want older menu bar, right click on the new bar in a blank space by a tab and choose Menu Bar and this gives the old menus to IE.

Thanks, yes, this works. However, I would like a shortcut key (e.g. F2, F3) to bring up a favorite website.

    Hi wmarkj

Ah gotcha, ok this is do able, right click on your desktop and choose New Shortcut and in the Location of item box paste in your url to the website you wish to assign a F key too, then click Next and Finish.

Once you have the shortcut, right click it and choose properties, then click the Shortcut Key box and press the F2 key and it should be added to that box, click Apply and OK then when you click F2 the webpage will open. ( you can them move that shortcut to a folder anywhere on PC for stoarage of these, as it aids in changing them when you want to )

F1 is Help and F3 is Find, so do look down this list http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/help/2503b91d-d780-4c80-8f08-2f48878dc5661033.mspx for already used Shortcut Keys to avoid them or create combinations of key presses,

Yes, I have the F2 key chosen in the box. The problem is that when I hit F2, nothing happens.

    Hi

Are you doing this via the IE fovorites list within IE? if you are I have noticed it doesnt work, could be as you may need full admin priviledges to access the favorites folder on C: but workarounds are below

So try this, open C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Favorites ( where XXXXX is your user name ) then find the favorite you wish to assign a key to and right click Properties and add the F key in the box then apply and Ok

Just tried this and worked ok, similar to as my 2nd post in creating a brand new shortcut on desktop as this iirc will over write the favorites folder URL with the shortcut.
