One of my favorite lesser known movies:

Why? About life, death and love.

For older movies, I would say Pillow Talk, just because its a wholesome clean funny romance movie, todays equivilent would be Sleepless in Seattle, for same reason. I also loved Breakfast at Tiffanys, its just a classic.
For today's movies my favourites are Cold Mountain, awesome movie, and The Last Samurai, both are a must see for anyone.

"It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" One of the funniest I've seen with the longest list of comedians in it's credits ever. :D

also "The Gods Must Be Crazy" good comedy if you can take the first few minutes. :D

i have so many favorites- most of the 80's cult classics- Breakfast Club, Sweet Sixteen, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller, etc....

more recently "men of Honor", Shawshank Redemption, Where the Heart is (great feel good movie), LOTR, and Pirates of the Carribean - mainly because with Johnny Depp AND orlando Bloom- its worth watching! lol

I'm also a HUGE Harry Potter fan, but like the books over the movies

"The Blues Brothers", "Animal House" and "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" w/ Bette Davis and Joan Crawford . But the funniest movie I think I've ever seen is "Arsenic and Old Lace" w/ Cary Grant. (No I didn't really see it with Cary Grant but that would have been very nice :D )
And I don't believe there was a goat in any of them

yeah i've seen that one...that is a good movie.

and I don't understand why all you ladies like Johnny Depp. He looks like a strung out drug addict  imo, anyway.

    my fav's are:

    Fight Club
    Reservoir Dogs
    Pulp Fiction
    Saving Private Ryan
Dirty Harry (the original) "So you have to ask yourself a question...did I fire 6 shots or only 5?
    Hunt for Red October

thats all I can think of right now

dang ace, there seems to be a theme running through those!
Do we detect a dark side? (note to self - don't make him angry- lol) :D

I'm not a huge Johnny Depp fan, I'll take Richard Dean Anderson anyday. I mean he's McGyver and now a space traveller. Never a dull moment. ;)

    @ kiwi
I like movies that are different. I like Brad Pitt as an actor, and Q. Terintino is one of the greatest director's ever. Kill Bill was great. Can't wait to see vol.2. But it didn't make my all time list.

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

It's funny. Every time somebody asks for a favorite movie, everybody always posts a list. Hard to pick just one. Lots of "favorites", but if I had to pick just one, it would be Miracle on 34th Street, with Jimmy Steward/Donna Reed. Colorized version preferably (I'm not THAT much of a purist.)
