I have searched the answers but didn't find this one. I am running WIN2kPro and recently had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall all the drivers, progams etc.(no fun). Everything works but the fax modem. In the device manager it shows it is working and connected to COM1 and there are no conflicts with COM 1. I ran a modem test and got the message that the modem was not in the registry. I do not think it is a hardware problem but a software problem. I have updated the driver but still get this error about error modem name not found in registry which is attached.

Fixed this. Still don't know why the orginal installation disk didn't worked. I uninstalled everthing including the PCI port and then reinstalled them with a new driver from the web site.

I'm glad it's fixed. I was looking into this because I have never heard of the error you mentioned: "modem name not found in registry" is really weird. I've installed lots of modems, and had many, many problems installing modems, but this is something I have never even heard of.... anyway- good work figuring it out :D Sometimes the factory driver discs just don't work....
