Sometime yesturday I downloaded the FEAR Demo (not too impressed with the game by the way), I installed it, played it some, and I've noticed that ever since , I've been havnig trouble staying connected to the internet. Everytime I try to start EVE, my 'net crashes but restarts when I exit the client. After more experimenting later, I find out that this also happens when I try to access Windows Update. I can download files and log into other games just fine, but I just can't seem to fix this darn problem!

I've reinstalled EVE-Online, rebooted, virus scanned, reinstalled my networking cards, that kind of stuff. I even tried out System Restore, but I can't seem to access it. I downloaded the demo from FileFront, so I'm assuming I havn't been infected with a virus or anything (AVG, my on-system virus scanner has detected nothing, and neither did Trend Micro's Housecall). I browsed the EVE help files a lot (this was before I figured out the issue isn't isolated to EVE), and I tried out this little LSP Fix thing that I got from http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm, but there was no luck with it either.

There were no other changes to my computer between my last successful login and when the problems started. I did a bit of Googling to see if I could find out any problems with the game demo itself that could cause this, but I did not find anything there.

I'm completely stumped here. I'm thinking a format and reinstall is my only answer, and I hope I'm wrong. Even any ideas would be appreciated.

(oh, and I'm using Windows XP Home)

Your OS is out of date and represents a serious security risk. Bring your Windows OS up2date.

Your video drivers are slightly of of date. You may want to update your video drivers.

I saw nothing in you logs that would account for your problem. Please install HiJackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Run HijackThis, Click-on Do a system scan and save a logfile. Post the log as an attachement, DO NOT copy and paste the HJT log.

You did not install HijackThis in the right loaction, it should be installed in C:\Program Files\HijackThis.

Please download, install and run CCleaner.

Also if you are not running Firefox 1.0.6 then you need to update your Firefox

Sorry. It didn't have an installer, so I just unzipped it into my Desktop. I figured you were thinking of a differnt version or something.

This one should be correct. I'll look at the CCleaner thing now.

What results did you get from running CCleaner?

Woah! It's working now for some reason. Maybe CCleaner fixed it! Or maybe it was just the EVE servers. I dunno

Thanks a lot Shadow. I don't know if it was something you told me to do that fixed it, but thanks for your time. I got a lot of cool utilities too.
