    Hello,

I am as I guess the rest of you love games, Mostly for the PC problem is...My PC seems to be lacking the performance for the games I try to play.

Games I play are, America's Army SF, Tom Clancy's SplinterCell Chaos Theory, Rome Total War, Battlefield Vietnam. (Soon Battlefield 2)

In every one of these games, I have to turn down the video settings dramaticly and that sucks cause everything looks like crap.

My spec's are in the Dxdiag .txt below, Also wondering if my PC would be able to handle a 256 MB Video Card on PCI Bus and if so would it help at all?

My mobo is a Gamila2-GL6E Standard mobo for the HP a522n (That is my system)

I have the cash to upgrade, And maybe if a new system is in order so be it but, I wouldn't want to give up trying cause I see this system isn't to far out of date.

I run Nortons Internet Security as my Virus and Firewall and I have Microsoft Anti_Spyware, SpywareGaurd running in the background, But as I've heard Nortons uses alot of the PC's resources, Maybe that's lagging me ?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks.

Your video card's crap, and your audio is crap. Buy a nice new 300-400$ video card; and maybe some fast low latency 1gb ram and your pc should be set. If your getting the ram dont mix it w/the stuff you have on. Oops and almost forgot having on board audio means your systems performance is taken away some because of it; look into new sound cards like the following -> http://www.frozencpu.com/snd-12.html?id=JAWAhgYe

Depends how much you want to spend. As Omergamerc said, spend about that amount and get yourself a good Geforce or ATI equivalent.

300-400$ Isn't a problem, The problem is I have to use PCI Bus, AGP is not an option, And I don't see many PCI Video Cards that are worth drueling over let alone that are in that price range.

If you guys can suggest a few good ones, Would be awesome, BTW I ordered that sound card thanks for the input.

Just as a note, I only use NVIDIA, ATI isn't in my taste.

You basically got suckered into buying a shiatty pc; with the money you spend buying sperate parts your maybe better off buying a new one if your not feeling too hot about doing your own thing.

Yeah, I can build PC's no problem but it's the compatible parts with the hardware and software and stuff that I get stumped with so, As long as I'm setup right I can go from there.

    Hmm, Question I have DDR2 PC2-3200 x2 256 MB Dual Channel 1rx16 400Mhz Already in this PC I ordered 512 More, but they are DDR2 PC2-5100 at 533Mhz running at x8 instead of x16.

I have them in the PC now no errors or nothing it gave me a screen at boot up saying the memory has changed hit f1 to continue.

As I siad I'm not good on compatiblity, Will these run ok together without frying or something going wrong?

Yeah I know, Saving for a 6800 GT =) But as far as the memory it will run ok It shouldn't cause problems?

well its a mixed bucket, maybe maybe not. When buying diff. mfg, speeds and sizes there is always chance for problems to come sooner or later.
