FFXI graphic lag issues.

Yallo~ After trying several things on my own, I am now seeking help.

In FFXI, I get graphic lag with spells and effects. Not just the common lag like I *used* to experience, it completely effects my performance in parties and events. I have tried, reinstalling FFXI, double checking drivers, defragging, making more space on hard drives, checking for viruses. None of which seems to be the problem.

I am using a home-built rig. Components are as follows.
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2700+ CPU
GeForce FX 5600 256mb
2x Corsair XMS 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 333 PC2700
IDE 60gb harddrive and two 120gb SATA harddrives on a RAID

Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated.

 

What resolution are you running the game at? Have you tinkered with the in-game settings such as shadows, effects, etc?

 

I used to run fine at 1024x768 overlay and 1024x1024 background. But now I usually do a 512x512 background. I have shadows set at Normal and only my effects are not filtered out.

 

try getting an nvidia 7800 card, up your ram to 1-2 gigs
