File Sharing Win 10 To Win Xp

I read that it is not possible, but there must be a way.

Do any of the Geeks know??

 

I suspect it can be done but might prove both difficult and troublesome. However if you install TeamViewer on both systems then it should be straightforward. Use LAN only in the TV options. I have found that when using TV in a LAN it's best to use fixed LAN IPs.

OK. I've just had a quick go at this from my Win 10 laptop to an XP virtual machine running on another Win 10 system. The laptop can fully access the shared files on the XP VM but although the XP VM can see the Win 10 laptop on the network it is being asked for a username and password which so far I have not been able to satisfy. I'll keep trying.

 

I have tried setting up a new user account in Win 10 but as this laptop uses a microsoft account to sign in to Win 10 that isn't possible. It may be possible if I switched to using a local account but I don't want to try that. Sorry.

 

Changed my mind and switched to a local account. Set up a new user with password for the XPVM but still no joy. The problem is probably that the laptop is joined to a HomeGroup and XP cannot do HomeGroup. Cannot see what else I could try.
