File Sharing

I have 2 PC conected to a linksys router. Each has internet access. One is wireless. I would like to share a folder on the wireless PC but am having trouble. On the wireless PC side, everything looks fine. That computer is running XP and the folder is shared.

When i try to access that folder from my wired computer(xp pro) it tells me that the drive is innaccessbile. any help?

You have to add the folder to my network places too...

 

By that do you mean that I have to map the network drive? In my case, I would map the shared folder on the wireless pc to the 'my network places' on my wired pc. but you can only map a drive that you can connect to. I cant connect to that drive.

 

Well, if the folder is shared then go to My computer or windows explorer and type this \\computername\sharename. That should bring up your shared folder and contents. If not you have something else going on......windows firewall, zone alarm, ect... if you still can't see them go to the basics, can you ping that IP? Can you ping the Netbios name computer name? Can you access resources in reverse direction?

On the computer that has the folder you want to share, click start>my network places and then on the left add network place. Add the folders you want to share.

Also, run the network setup wizard and enable fire sharing during it.

 

do you have file/printer sharing enabled? also, you can shut down your firewall(s) temporarily to see if that is the problem. i had the same problem like 2-3 weeks ago, i had to set up my network again, and i had to add a single ip address to my firewall (once i figured out it was blocking me). - g/l, sos
