File Transfer among buddies

Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated.
My friend and I are wanting to send each other files. Most of which are video files if that matters. For reasons, mainly firewalls and routers, msn sending doesn't work. Have tried a couple other methods to no avail. I would really like it if anybody knows of some reliable, fast file transfer among friends. If it matters i am using Win XP buddy is using Win 98 (he is too cheap to upgrade). I don't think any other stats are require but for the sake of arguement (3200 overclocked AMD barton, 512 ddr ram, 120 gig hard drive).

Can I assume there's something wrong with the file transfer software included with your OS?

Netmeeting to be specific. Won't cost u thing since it's in both win98 and xp.

Setup instructions are on MS web site and getting through/around/under/over the router/firewall depends on which u r using. But I can be done easily enough.

 

Firewalled, do you mean through a university firewall?
Generally, these are a pain; im behind one to.
Couldnt find a way to do it.

If you'd like to use MSN for your file transfers, it can be done even behind your firewalls and routers. The trick is to configure the ports that MSN uses for file transfer. Here they are:

Feature
*Outbound Port
*Inbound Port

Text chatting
80 (TCP)
80 (TCP)

Voice– PC to PC
6901 (TCP/UDP)
6901 (TCP/UDP)

File Transfer
6891-6900 (TCP – dynamic)
6891-6900 (TCP – dynamic)
