i originally posted this in the Malware Help - MG forum, they have been unable to find any malware. i ran AdwCleaner, RogueKiller, HitmanPro, MGtools, and FRST64. The FRST64 addition file indicates some errors, but i don't know if they have anything to do with the issue.

Programs long installed (years) and running (apparently) without issue have started failing to open and generate the warning "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check ... to see whether you need an x86 or x64 version of the program...."

I'm using Windows 7 service pack 1 Home Ultimate 64 bit.

I have Macrium Reflect backup, i can restore to an earlier disk image and things seem to run properly, but after a while programs start failing to open and generating the warning. This seems to proliferate as time goes on (hours). Perhaps i haven't gone back far enough, but if i do that i won't know what went wrong or why.

I use licensed versions of Avira Prime and Malwarebytes.

The logs from the other malware tools are posted in the other forum, but i can post them here if anyone asks.
