Files not going to correct drive

I have searched a bit on google with no hits.

I just setup my gateway dx4200, changed from vista to wins xp pro. It set up a "c" drive and a "j" drive. The "j" is small less than a gig and the "c" is over 500 gigs but everthing downloads to the smaller "j" as a default. I guess I want to change the default to the "c" drive for any programs and downloads I do. Also system restore won't back up since it's working from "j" drive also.

Any ideas?

 

you can tell files where to be saved u can also partition the drive with software such as gparted available here on MG.
