I have a form emailed me that I want to fill out on my computer, and return,
How do I set up and insert the information onto the document?
I seem to be spinning my wheels

    Thanks

Depends on what format the document has been sent. you can edit or fill in the details on forms if it's a pdf you just need a pdf editor

Is the form in PDF format? Most PCs right now are able to open PDF in editable format - from the folder, right click on the file first and see if there are options for you to open it in editable format.

You need to tell us what the exact file ending/s is are, ie .doc or .pdf etc of the documents emailed to you.
If they are .pdf then to edit them you would need a PDF editing program.
If they are in MS Word format, you can save them, edit them, then resave them very easily.

By "newer" do you mean those running Windows 8.1 or 10?

Firstly, I think we should wait for Skysarge to come back to confirm what the exact file type the documents they need to edit are. If they are word then pdf editing is not relevant. But I have to concur with plodr that the standard free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader has no edit function, you either have to pay for it, or install a freeware pdf editor. The OS edition/version is not relevant.

    Agreed.

FYI To fill out (in?) a pdf document doesn't require a pdf editor. You do it in any good pdf reader. And then you send it to your email client.
The same applies to a fillable Word document.
    Simple. ;) And here's a sample.

I was sent a few days ago via email a form - that required me to complete it - in pdf format. I couldn't edit it in Adobe Reader free version as it was not sent in a editable format. For me it didn't matter. I printed it out, completed it by hand, scanned it and emailed the completed form back.
If you read that link carefully, to be edited it needs to have been sent to the receiver in editable format.

Not true. It needs to be in a fillable format. Aka 'An interactive PDF form'.
Just click below Name and you can enter your name. Save, and send or attach the form.

BTW I have created such forms in MSO Word 2003 & 2007.
