Does anyone know of a good film grain removal tool from photographs?

Hey Chuck. I googled "film grain removal tool" and came up with a buncha hits. This one looked pretty good auto focus A pretty great freeware photo program is the GIMP tutorial here Download the gimp here. It's open source and freeware. I've played with it some and it's fun

edit: it is a fairly large proggie and if you add on the plugins it can really get big. But then so is photochop.

Thanks Bill. I purchased the AutoFocus plug in, it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I emailed their support and attached an example to see if maybe I'm not using it correctly. Hopefully its operator error.

I'll keep searching.

Grain removal is a bit hit and miss in photos... its damm easy to put in but harder to get acurate results when removing...

one method is to purchase a plugin for the likes of Adobe Photoshop eg. Visual Infinity's Grain Surgery 2 is superb but at a cost, other less expensive method is to use Gaussian Blur ( Photoshop and other photo editing apps I'm sure come with it ) and very finely adjust the settings as all most of the grain removal tools are doing is to blur the pixels slightly thus giving you a less grainy picture a downside is you end up with a slightly out of focus picture this can be helped by using Unsharp Mask ( dont use sharpen ).
