filming your desktop

Okay, now this has probably been discussed in a generic form, but this is a very specific problem.

I have a 3dmf model open in Design Workshop. now I want to video me panning across this model to show how a building I reconstructed was built as a wireframe. But I cant think how to record me moving the wireframe whilst actually dragging the model. Does anyone know of any software, hopefully free, that can just record this model being moved without wiping my capacity to actually drag the model durign recording. Ie is there is a non intrusive desktop video recorder. Ideally would like to output as wmv or soemthing similar.
