Finally had a bad day.

Yesterday was the worst evening in recent memory, but not bad enough that I couldn't laugh it off. Owning a Droid, I updated facebook on my ordeal throughout the whole thing. It turned out to be a riot.. But I kept thinking, man it's a good thing someone invented Cell phones and I have one.

I went to my moms house after work yesterday. My parents paid me to shovel the dog kennel and chicken coop out, and I kept forgetting about the coop, so I wanted to get that done. It was a nice day, might as well be outside. The coop isn't what you'd think, well they have a normal one now, but the one I shoveled use to be the dog kennel, it's big, you can walk in and around in it, it took maybe two hours of shoveling and an ATV trailer to take care of it. The new one's easy though, if you keep up with it. It's the typical design that you'd see anywhere.

Anyhow, they have 2 ATV's, a four wheeler, and a rhino. The last time I did the old coop, the Rhino wasn't working, so I used the four wheeler and a trailer to do it. This time, mom suggested I drive the rhino into the coop and shovel into that. The rhino busted through the floor, but only one tire, so with four wheel drive, I got right back out.

I shoveled and cleaned up the tools and everything. My nephew comes over and asks if I will take him for a ride on the Rhino, I like driving it around, so I thought I would. I told him that I couldn't take him out of the yard though, that there was a tree down, and I didn't think we could get around it.

I did go into the woods, and we did make it under the tree, so we hit the old RR tracks, they're not there anymore, and it makes a nice ride.

We go a couple miles, hit a main road, and I turn around to head back. BANG! it backfires. I don't know why. So I tell him (he's 5) to hold on, we've got to keep the speed up, it's all I could think of. I thought something was wrong with the fuel flow when I slowed down or something. Turns out I was close.

About a mile away from the main road, on our way back to the house, we ran out of gas. I called my mom, and she brought some to me, but we had to walk to the road, and she had his 2 year old brother with her, so she couldn't walk to help any. LOL

I ditched my partner with her. He was saying things like "I like walks" and I'd say "I do too, when I mean to go on them." then he'd say "What if I got you a birthday present, and it was a walk?" LOL

Anyhow, I snapped a picture of the Rhino on the side of the path, and when I came into the office this morning, I located the area I broke down on google maps. I used the GPS on my droid last night to tell my mom whereabouts to start looking for us. It worked out nice. I'll share the pictures with you. It wasn't horrible though. I wasn't a big fan of walking a mile with 6 gallons of gas though. LOL :major

LOL, you call that a bad day?:-D The thing does have a gas gauge right?! Was it one of those 'head-slap moments'? ;)

It does have a gauge, but it doesn't work. I think it has bad gas in it. I'm not sure though. It filled up before I thought it would have, being empty. It wasn't running through the winter, and recently mom had it on a battery tender.

While it wasn't running, I swear I put gasoline in it, to see if that was the problem. It would crank a while, then the battery would give out.

It wasn't a terrible day, but yes, had myself a good face palm. When it backfired, I should have just cut my loses, and called from the main road. LOL

That's a great day out for a five year old. Nobody hurt, you got some exercise and the ankle biter had a mini adventure.
    Happy days.

Hey Pax, Not so much a bad day, look at the bright side, nobody got hurt, and your nephew sounds like he had a ball anyway! :-D Sitting all winter, isn't good, in the first place. I know my 4 wheeler runs much better, when I keep it running, and if I park it, it will EAT spark plugs. So, I just get tags for it and motor-on!

After sitting all winter, should charge the battery up, FILL with fresh gas, and change oil.

Still, nice pix there! LOL ;)
