    Hello:

I am finally Norton free and what an amazing difference! (It was quite the job to get it out of my system as Symantec sits in your registry more than you know) I have known this for quite sometime, but had to let it cause me one more problem and that was enough. I can't explain it, but my system runs better. Right now this is what I am doing, and I think that I have covered all my bases:

AVG current version (downloaded today)-Virus Protection*

    Zone Alarm

    Crap Cleaner

    Sypware Blaster

    Reg Seeker

    Ad-Aware SE

If anyone can suggest anything else, please let me know. My system specs-256MB, Win ME, 600 MHZ AMD, 12 GB HD.

*I will keep this until I decide on another Anti-Virus program

    Thanks

Spybot S&D which is a spyware scanner/remover. Works well with Ad-Aware.

What controlmind said is right about Spybot.

You may also want to look at avast! anti-virus.

Personally I like it better than AVG, but they're both free so they're good ;)

i also use microsoft antispyware & spyware blaster :) like avast more than avg & sygate's firewall is less intrusive than zone alarm!

Microsoft Anti-Spyware doesnt work on Windows ME.

You could also try A-Squared Free Edition which detects trojans, spyware etc and SpywareGuard which works well with SpywareBlaster and protects you from downloading bad files and prevents hijacks to your homepage.

No it runs in your taskbar but doesnt take up much resources at all when running.

Sounds like you have it pretty much covered.
My only suggestion would be tht if you haven't already done so,
to switch from IE to Firefox as your browser.

Ad Aware and AVG do me fine :)

Interesting that you should say that because I have done that at work and it is good. But because IE is part of windows, I would have to install it and then it would also take up more space.

Don't uninstall IE. use another browser if you like, but IE is required for M$ updating. Bazza

I heard that when BlackIce scans the incoming packets it provides false possitives that spyware, trojan or a virus was there. And BlackIce is also not free.
