lol we've had snow for three days now,in the UK:-D I love the snow.

My only gripe now is the news, same as last year, every time I see the news its all about the snow, how the country can't cope and how we're all gonna die because there isn't enough grit salt left for the roads.:zzz

I'm glad it's where someone enjoys it! I could do with a winter with no snow this year. We had way too many feet of it last year.

@Rikky...it's the same everywhere. We get tons of snow and it's still all over the news and the bread and milk still get sold out... even though we could have a foot and a half of snow and it would be cleared out in a day, people still think they are going to starve while stuck in their homes.

Do you have the little heart breaker stories aswell? They go on about the snow, delays ect. Then add little tragic heart breaker stories in the middle, only problem is ours are pathetic :-D The one in the 6.00pm news was a guy up the the Cumbrian hills who hadn't been given his winter diesel fuel delivery yet.He hadn't actually run out of diesel yet but he soon will and then he might not be able to open the pub rolleyes That's not news, maybe in a few weeks if he doesn't get his diesel and they find him and the pub darts team frozen dead halfway through a darts match.

I mean damn there's still people dying in Africa because they don't have clean water and we're complaining because we can't get to work on time and the local pub MIGHT have to close for a few days...

They close several school in our town today because of "inclement weather". Look at that photo again and then try to tell me that this amount of snow is enough to trap people in their homes...?

The average driver in these parts seriously needs to grow a pair and learn how to handle anything other than clean dry road conditions. Pathetic.

The average American driver cannot handle a car on clean dry roads either. ;)

I lived in New England for 17 years and drove everyday in every condition. Most years we had snowmen on Turkey Day and no snow at all for Christmas.

Here is hoping your Mother's visit is pleasant no matter the weather.

same here, not a single school in the city is open :-D and nobody seems to drive in it. yesterday, i got to school on my bike no problemo. I really don't see what the fuss is about.

Its made worse on my street (only one entrance to street) by the fact that the doctors are open, but will not open their car park, so everyone's parked on the road. they got rather annoyed when i said that i'd be back when they needed to call an ambulance because of a car crash :mad

Back when I was in Grade School, there could be 2 inches of ice on the roads and 10 inches of snow on the ground.
    Did school get called?
NO. The bus drivers put chains on the buses and made the routes they were assigned.
Now, if a single cloud looks dark, "Close it.".

I hate snow. Well... it's okay now since it's only an inch or two, but later on I will truly hate snow.

Or if you grow up in the north of Sweden, you don't learn how to drive on snow on those... you learn how to drive, period. My dad taught me driving in this exact kind of weather, but with more snow. In a car that handles exactly like the one I'm driving now. I am all set for the winter here! :)

That's exactly it Tim. That's how we learned to drive in snow. I was way more fun back then with the rear wheel drives though.

wow!!! thats pretty serious snow!! in the uk, 'emergency' is basically 1/2 inch of snow :-D
i'm glad its all starting to melt here in the uk, though the ice is worse than the snow itself - especially with the old people down my street melting the snow away with boiling water only to have the water freeze overnight (duh!)
