Finding Maker Of Sound card

Could you please tell me how to find the name of my sound card, which I believe I need to know to find drivers

You will have to meet us half way and give some information,

1. What OS?

2. If you are ok opening the side of your PC then their maybe a makers name and model name/number on the card?

3. Goto Device Properties and see what info is on the sound device ( Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device manager and look for Sound Devices )

4. Get ahold of Everest and it wil/should tell you what sound card you have installed and if its a known one then Everest links to the driver page of the manufacturer EVEREST download http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
once installed goto Computer > Summary and in the list under Multimedia it should tell you your cards name and model number and if its blue its a link to the driver page.

if that still doesn't work and you open the side case of your computer, there should be an FCC ID number on the sound card, if you can locate that, then i know somewhere on the FCC website is a database of what is what, im sorry im not sure where it, but i know it exists

the easiest solution I could find is to download SiSoft Sandra: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download92.html
and click on the "Sound Card Information" link -that correctly id'd my soundcard.
Hope it does the same for you.

Another is Belarc Advisor. It is less detailed than Sandra, a great program, for sure. Maybe easier to use for a newb in this situation IMO. Can't go wrong either way. In Belarc Advisor, the sound card should be in the "Multimedia" section.
