Fingerprint Reader!?

I saw a Fingerprint reader at Best Buy yesterday. I was astonished. Do they work well? It seems that someone can have one at home it would be easy for banks and such to use them as well?

I think it was 50 bucks.

dunno if I can see the point of using one for a home PC, where a user/login password would work just as well, just a neat toy to show to your mates imho

maybe one day this sort of biometric security logon will be the norm ( or retinal scanning ) to log you onto your 50.8teraflop home PC system!

There's an english proff,who runs the main cybernetics research facility"location,BLANK" in the uk "name,BLANK".And he has had a chip inserted into his arm and his house recognizes him,what room he's in,turns on light,locks doors stuff like that,I think thats the future.

most of those readers are not what you'd call retina readers but Iris readers.. the Iris is easier to scan as you can be a small distance from the eye to scan but the retinal is alot more difficult as you need to be very close to a un-dilated eye to get a good accurate result.
