    Hi Bill

As the specs for this mention Win2000/XP and knowing you also have a Vista PC, did it work on your Vista PC with Firefox, without any trickery like Run as Admin?

Hi David no problems with Vista it actually speeded up the paging.

It worked in windows 7 but i did not see a marked improvement.

    Cheers Bill for the update.

Will try this with Minefield now as I dont have normal firefox installed, didnt notice much of a speed change but Minefield maybe different in mem usage to Fx

Without Ultimate Optimizer running and with just two tabs open (no add-ons) Minefields mem usage was 34mb, with same tabs and webpages open and with UO running the same mem usage was 400k with 700k being attributed to UO application, so from 34mb to jsut over 1mb mem usage, its worth a shot.

Not being so cerebral as you David.:confused
I just tried it and used task manager to see the improvement.

May "The Force" Bless you both.

We (or at least - I) need both types here - the "cerebral" and well, again, just speaking for myself, the "grc123-type" :-D

    Geek-ON! ;)

Has anyone tested this for malicious activity?(

I read some of the user opinions from the link, which made me curious. Tried following the publisher link and didn't get anywhere. :confused

If you guys have tested it and it doesn't crash your pc, I may take it for a test drive. :-o

I guess you have to make sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 :-o

I have run it on my desktop PC with Vista and no problems and on Windows 7 (vitual pc) without any noticable problems or improvement, also ran it on on my laptop (XP pro ) no problems.

I am also interested, but I feel it should be noted that McAfee Site Advisor shows it with a "Yellow" indicator - perhaps a bit spammy? http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/so...te=false&aff_id=0&locale=en-us&os_ver=5.1.3.0

Yes, uploaded and scanned the files with Jotti's malware scan and while some of the obscure scanners def files find Adware or Riskware the main scanners as in KAV, NOD32, AVAST, AVG all found nothing.... so personally dont know as no scan I normally use and manual search of locations in registry herald nothing, but this http://www.lockergnome.com/blade/2008/04/14/firefox-ultimate-optimizer-use-at-your-own-risk/ is worth a read.

Read mixed reviews also, one that I normally trust was from ghacks

Kinda think as some mention in the install proceedure the app wanting to install other items, all I know is the one I tried was stand alone and not installer, with no mention of adding other components.

One of those times to use your own judgement in using or not, personally as I dont use Fx or Minefield alot, other than for testing things I'm likely to pass on its benefits as I have enough ram. But try using Process Explorer to see exactly what ram is being used as Task Manager is not always accurate ;)

All I get is a suspended page when I try to get the free download. :cry Will try again later. Opera keeps on locking up on me and Firefox 'seems' to be slow. Or I could do some googling and tweak Firefox, but I am too lazy!

    Thanks for the link Bill.

Yes seems to be in running Process Explorer with just Minefield (blue circle) you see lower cpu cycles and Physical memory being fully used, in the other shot with (green circle) this is with Ultimate Opt being used, as you see CPU cycles are up and I did notice the CPU fan ramp up speed, then Physical ram used looks as if indeed its been added to VM.

Personally if the app is doing this, then I would stick with not using it and using system ram as its quicker than VM, unless you have a low ram PC and this type of app may help.
