Firefox 3 causing problems

Been a user of firefox but when I updated to version 3 problems started. It often will not shut down. When I want to use the browser again, I need to use Windows Task Manager to stop firefox, then I can start firefox again.

A second problem is with pop-up windows, it will not open any even though I have 'unclicked' block pop-up windows in Tools - Options.

I have uninstalled program and reinstalled to no avial. Any suggestions?

Excellent Firefox guide, configure Firefox using about:config is a must. Believe they still have instructions on doing a complete uninstall.
