Firefox 4.0 crash

Am working on a Thinkpad with T510 using Windows 7 and Firefox 4.0. Was fooling around in FF trying to get the Google toolbar (maps, etc.) which wasn’t installed with the upgrade to 4.0 and crashed FF. Not sure exactly what I did. Am now getting an “unresponsive script” error message relating to the StumbleUpon tool bar. Whether I stop or continue the script in response to the message, FF freezes and then crashes. Located my FF profile to save bookmarks etc. Uninstalled and reinstalled FF 4.0. The same thing happens. Any help appreciated.

Is StumbleUpon possibly installed in your Add/Remove Programs?

 

StumbleUpon is an FF add-on and not a standalone program I think. Will double-check though. Can't get into FF to delete it. In thinking about it some more when I did the FF uninstall it prompts you asking if you want to delete personal info which I take to mean your program profile. I said no which probably means the corrupted StumbleUpon was resurrected with the reinstall. Have my FF profile in a separate profile but unclear how to go in to delete just StumbleUpon.

reinstall fireforx, then uninstall it, AND delete your personal data when prompted. You should then be able to do a clean install.

 

Did the reinstall/uninstall/delete personal information. Had saved previous FF profile in a separate file and just uploaded into the new FF using FF help. Think I'm good. In the meantime, downloaded Chromo, fooled around with it, and am thinking I like it better than FF.

If you prefer Chrome, take a good look at SR Iron. It's about the same as Chrome (same base design), just less privacy "leaks" and much more secure. Chrome's the equivalent of a Ford Probe on the interstate...
