One thing I did not like about FF 4 was if you typed a site into the address bar without the .com and http (for instance just "majorgeeks") FF would take me to Google instead of majorgeeks. So I found this.

    Go to about:config
in the filter box type: keyword
Double click "keyword.URL" and change the value to:

    Code:
    http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
Now when I type in majorgeeks or hotmail in the address bar I go directly to those sites instead of Google.

Edit: FF 4 also got rid of the page loading progress bar in the status bar. You can get it back with this extension.

tgell....just type in your site word ( IE: MajorGeeks ) and then hit the control key and the enter key. ;)

If it is a .net site, just hit shift and enter. ;)

Do you mean you type in the site name and then hit Enter?

In addition to the .com and .net keyboard shortcuts mentioned, Ctrl/Shift/Enter will take you to a .org site.

Thanks tgell for the progress bar add-on; I'm going to give that a try. :)

I've been having some problems with Google freezing (not responding) in the FF beta versions. I'd be curious if anyone switching from ver. 3.6 to 4.0 suddenly starts having Google issues. It may be something with my particular configuration and I just want to see if it is only me.

    Thanks!

I did not have any issues going from 3.6 to 4.0 but I actually did a clean install. Uninstalled Firefox 3.6 and removed all folders left after saving my bookmarks. Reinstalled my extensions and so far it seems to be running smooth. On my son's machine it is running pretty fast as he has hardware support also.

If you would like to see if you also have support, you go to about:support in the address bar and under the graphics sections you will see "GPU Accelerated Windows". It should read 1/1. He was pulling about 60FPS on this site.

Did you adjust the Default IE logo to change the amount of images from the default 36 to 256, I managed in both IE9, Fx4.0 to keep the max 60fps.

@Sach2 - not yet on Google with Fx 4.0, but I would ask do you have Chrome installed or any thing like Google Desktop Search, if so uninstall and check that their is not Chrome frame left or any other Google components and see if Fx is still playing up.

One thing I don't like is the new groups feature not saving groups.

I think it was at the default. I will have him try it at the max and see what happens.
