    Hello, commus

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and then attach the requested logs to your next reply when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes, you could use a flash drive too, but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    * Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated - our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hello, commus

*Other than the tools our guide instructed you to save there, I strongly recommend that you clean up this account's Desktop immediately leaving only shortcut links. [ C:\Documents and Settings\Jesse Bumpus\desktop ] Do not store downloads, exe files, iso files....etc on your Desktop. First it is not a safe place to keep them (i.e., you may loose them due to malware, and a cluttered Desktop is an easy hiding place for malware), and last but not least - it can have an effect on your PCs performance.

    Step 1:
Please look in Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features if using Vista or Windows 7) for the following and uninstall if found. If you get any errors just make a note and continue on.
    Step 2:
Now we need to use ComboFix.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware, firewall...etc) programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. *Remember to re-start them before coming back online.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text inside of the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Step 3:
Delete all files and subfolders in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    Step 4:
Open CCleaner - select "Cleaner" > "Run Cleaner" <---use this function ONLY!

Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Windows 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Please attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file to your next reply.

    * Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure; and answer this - "What malware problems are you still experiencing?"

*Edit: removing un-needed post quote to reduce forum clutter.

    Just a little clarification first.

I have already cleaned out the desk top except combo fix.

Above are you saying to remove only the Uniblue Driver Scanner.
My problem is it is not located anywhere in the add/remove programs. Can't seem (also) to find an 'exe'...any hints

Uniblue DriverScanner 2009 does appear in your "newfiles.txt" log. Does it appear in CCleaner's "Tools/Uninstall" listing? Please continue with uninstalling the older Java version and the rest of my instructions, in either case.

Yes it does appear in the CClean's "tools" listing. Are you saying to select it and use the "Uninstall" button?

Uninstalling of the Java fails when using the "add/remove programs" of the Control Panel. Should I also use CCleaner for that as well?

    Hello, commus

"Yes" and "If you have trouble using Add/Remove - Yes".

I have to make a correction here.

The Uniblue Driver Scanner is not in CCleaner.

The Java is but has the same problem as when trying to use the control panel (add/remove programs). I had a "D" hard drive a while back which is now another drive and the Java was installed on that old drive to uninstalls cannot find the target drive now.

It appears that you have three hard drives. Does each have a Windows partition?

    four (4) physical drives.
    2 have 2 partitions each
    one has a single partition.

Finished with a few little things but then I noted every hiccup...

    Step 2 - Combofix

    1. Asked for update and I did not allow the first time. It later said it would not fully run so I knew I had goofed... Read your noted and realized my goof. Stopped and went back to the drag and drop of CFscript.txt.

    2. Noticed that it called for (and I allowed) install of recovery console.

    3. At end a note pad was open with a text file "log.txt" I renamed as "combofix_log.txt" and an including it along with the "combofix.txt" file you specified.

Step 3 - There were no files in the temp folders specified

    Step 4 - MGtools

    File "MGlogs.zip" attached.

    Many thanks :major

    You're welcome, commus.

The only problem that I see is - you have two anti-virus programs installed:
You MUST uninstall one of them immediately.

Now - let's run an online scanner.
    Using ESET's Online Scanner

Attach the ESET Log.txt to your next reply.

I am not sure how big a mess I made of this. Ran it 3 times

    1. First run did not read about saving the file.
    2. Second run saved files and realized I did not set the options.
    3. Third run --- I think I get it all correct.

    Files -
    esetlog2.txt from second run
    esetlog3.txt from third run

Where is the smiley for clueless today

Looks like "a bit" of junk was found on your other drives.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Windows 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Attach the new C:\MgLogs.zip to your next reply.

What malware issues are you still experiencing?

It was better but after a couple of days now it has deteriorated again...
Any suggestion of something I can run to see what is causing this?

I am not sure if I ran the mgtools...will go back and run again and post in a little.

    Please use Add/Remove to uninstall:
Open CCleaner - select "Cleaner" > "Run Cleaner" <---use this function ONLY!

Reboot your pc and then install the latest Sun Java Runtime Environment

    -------------------------------------------------

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps. NOTE: Make sure that you follow ALL instructions as you have a large amount of files in ComboFix's quarantine folder.
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and re-enable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
