    Greetings

Just did a reinstall of XP Pro on my laptop to resolve stubborn failure-to-connect-to-the internet problem (it fixed it). Dell technician (under my paid maintenance contract) said my running both Firefox and IE could have resulted in a conflict causing the inability for either to access the internet. Anybody heard of this, or have any knowledge or thoughts on this? I want to run Firefox, but believe I need IE for MS updates, so cannot uninstall it. Thanks - Bob

Well I will not comment on "Dell" technicians other than the first letter in dell, I run Opera/ Firefox / IE sometimes with all three open and have not had a problem, but then I do not have a Dell, just an HP which is just as lame.

I have a Dell and have run both programs simultaniously without problems.

Yea that's one of the words Doug, funny how you give a person the title "Technician" and the amount of garbage coming from them triples, and their conviction that their right triples as well.

But it's one of the bonus's that you get with a Dell .....(now where is that de-crapifier laying around?)

Never had any problems with FF and IE open/loading at the same time.

Hell, didn't that guy get popped for dope, the one in the earlier Dell commercials? Is it possible, they gave him a job in the customer service/tech department?

Speaking of Dell... "and I try not to..."
Did you know that a new maintenance program they are about to implement would let these geniuses roam freely around your computer via the internet?

I suppose part of the repair routine would be to remove anything not Dill or Microshaft.

I can't help but laugh at that last comment... yes I apologize because I think this is considered spam but I'm not entirely sure.

Don't know if I am to fall back to my buttocks, but I would say this is true.. I installed Firefox 2.0 > installer IE7 > Uninstalled IE7 > Windows started crashing Firefox 2.0 for no reason. System came unstabile as soon I reinstalled Firefox 2.0..

So as I said don't really know, if I will fall in my back, but I would say this is true at least in some level.

*edit* Or perhaps just my luck.. hehe

    Naaa...
Actually linking the fact that the fine (snicker) people at Dell that told Geolbob that you can't run Firefox with IE are now going to have free rain to roam a Dell computer with impunity.

More like irony mixed in with a tad bit of sarcasm. :D

Please do not, I repeat do not uninstall IE # as part of IE is required for Windows, you can do it but don't. IE 6 had some well known issues, so go to MS and download the NEW & SHINY IE7 and I think you will find your problems go away
