    Welcome to Majorgeeks :)

Make sure you're using an account with Admin privileges, disable one at a time.

i.e. disable first one, close FF, reopen FF - if no error, bingo. If you still have an error go to the next add-on.

I have non compatible add-ons that run fine, so must be a really old version of something. Also download CCleaner http://majorgeeks.com/download4191.html clean temp files and registry, say yes to make a backup and leave at default settings.

Hmm says a new add-on has been installed, any other problems like pop-ups or strange behavior with programs? Vista, SP1 installed? Do you have Themes installed? What's in Plug-ins?

Like a pop-up add from the site or a pop-up that says something like "install this" you had ad blocker installed so should not get the pop-ups...

Does it point to the add-on or show the add-on screen when you get the error, screenshot please of error. I don't see in thread or need more coffee.

screeny in attached file, um it opens the addon box and highlights a random addon, when everyone addon is disabled it will still highlight a random addon.

Is IE working right... I would try a clean install. Uninstall, use CCleaner and reinstall but add one add-on at a time. If still a problem I would take a close look at the pop-ups and run the malware removal guide. I could be missing something but strange behavior. Others will look at and maybe see something I'm not.

    1. Do you remember installing anything prior to all this starting?
    2. Is IE working correctly or are you getting pop-ups there too?
    3. Are you using an Administrator account?
You can undo the restore via system restore. http://bertk.mvps.org/html/undorpv.html

I have to go dig my car out, someone will take over or I will check on you when I get back.

Not sure where you're at now... did the undo restore work?

There is a work-a-round but I'm still concerned about the pop-ups, do the malware READ & RUN here

If all is well, then I would look at your plug-ins.

The problem is solved, apparently i had a tracking cookie which messed up my firefox, i had it on my old laptop, and im not sure how it got to my new one :(
but i got rid of it and now things work fine, i just hope it does not come back again because it was very hard to get rid of.

    thanks for the support though

your suspicions about the malware were correct goodjob Cat_w_9_lives :)
