Firefox doesn't always open

Hi, I'm new to here so wasn't really sure of the right place to post this question. I use Firefox and sometimes when i turn on my laptop firefox doesn'If i double click in the desktop icon nothing happens, and the same with the shortcut on the taskbar at the bottom. The only way it seems to open is if i continously click on the shortcut on the taskbar until it opens, but then sometimes several pages open. It is a fairly new laptop so it's not like it's slow and takes a while to open. I have windows 7 and the latest version of firefox

 

Hi, thanks for the advice. I have reinstalled firefox and it now seems to be ok. I'll have to see how it goes. The link for firefox is not for the latest version. Should i update it to the latest version

 

If you now have version 5, I would not update that to version 17.0.1
Go here http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
select you language and download the new version and install it.

 

sorry did u mean to say you WOULD update it? you said you wouldn't but then you are giving me the link to the latest version

 

Never try and update anything by more than one version.
I did mean I would not try to upgrade from version 5 to 17! That is asking for problems.
