Firefox is being an ass

I have firefox 1.0.2, it crashed today and i had to uninstall and clean all firefox files, folders and keys. Now 9 times out of ten it comes up with: 'Alert! website. can't cannot be found, please check' and it won't find my home page, which is google.com. Even typing in the URL makes no difference at times, at others that is all it takes to open it. What is going on here? My stats on this headache on my desk is in the signature.
