Hi, I have questions about Firefox, and Netscape.
Do these browsers store things like cookies, history and temporary internet files like Internet Explorer does? If so, is there a way to emptry them out?
I have Netscape on my other computer, and I have also been thinking about trying Firefox. Also, is Firefox secure? I think I remember reading that it had security issues.
    Thanks.

Everything has security issues, worst being the operator not being careful what they download or where they browse.

All browsers store cookies, CCleaner cleans them out, but also all browsers have delete temporary files option in the browsers options.

Firefox was considered more secure sometime ago, before Microsoft started blocking automated installs of ActiveX. Since Firefox does not have ActiveX, this is the primary difference between the two and a mute point. Anyone telling you otherwise is simply repeating what they were told and not being honest or factual. Like comparing Windows to Macintosh to Linux, you will notice all have security updates and fixes. These are geared towards the less informed who think downloading sexy asian screensavers is a good idea.

Any browser that supports javascript will write cookies.
By default, javascript is enabled in Firefox, so yes, it will write cookies. Not always a bad thing. Majorgeeks, for example, uses cookies to store your log in status (particularly for those of use who choose the 'Remember Me' option when logging in).

Almost all browsers store a history and temporary files. This is used to speed up surfing. (If you save files you want to view again in the future, you can load them from your computer, as opposed to a server across the internet)

You can clear data in firefox by doing the following:

    1. Launch Firefox
    2. Select 'Clear Private Data' from the 'Tools' menu.

Here, you will be given a dialog of the types of data you wish to clear. Make your selections, and press ok, and Firefox will clear your data.

    Thank you.
One more question, how do I clear the files from Netscape?

I downloaded Firefox last night on my old computer (OLD Gateway "Celeron" with windows 98FE) at home, and so far I am pretty happy with it. It seems to load websites alot faster that IE. I am thinking about using it on my newer computer too.
    Thanks
